We manage concentrated equity for people who earned it at one company, and we charge a flat fee agreed in advance rather than a percentage that grows with the position.
The practice
Larkspur, California.
Since 2006.
Most of our clients arrive with one stock worth more than the rest of their life combined, and a tax bill waiting behind it. We plan the exit over years, not quarters, and we quote a flat fee so our advice does not get more expensive as the position grows.
Every account a household holds is managed against one plan — the trust, the 401(k), the option grant and the joint account, read as a single balance sheet.
Concentration built the wealth. It will not be what keeps it.
What we look for
Agreed before we start, in writing, unchanged by what the market does.
Trusts, options, retirement and joint accounts read as one balance sheet.
The order of sales matters more than the selection. We start there.
Our flat fee against the industry's standard 1%. The work does not change with the balance, so the fee should not either.
| Portfolio | Our flat fee | 1% of assets | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| $5M | $34,000 | $50,000 | $16,000 a year |
| $10M | $42,000 | $100,000 | $58,000 a year |
| $25M | $58,000 | $250,000 | $192,000 a year |
| $50M | $74,000 | $500,000 | $426,000 a year |
